Native Women Conservationists

Celebrating the vital role of Native American women in conservation. Learn about their impactful efforts to protect the natural environment in the US and Canada.
Secretary of Interior, Deb Haaland

November (I'm a bit late with this) was Native American Heritage Month. Among the many contributions native people make to the culture of the US and Canada, the Audubon Society recognized Native American women--such as Representative Mary Peltola of Alaska pictured here--who are stewarding our natural environment. As this Audubon article describes, during the last 2 years several native women have led the way in promoting policies and sponsoring legislation to protect America's wildlands and wildlife. Hats off to these "original" Americans and the women who are making a difference in conservation!
