A new Department of Interior rule could put conservation, recreation, and renewable energy on equal footing with traditional priorities of oil and gas drilling, hardrock mining, and livestock grazing on one tenth of the nation's land mass. This proposed rule by the Biden administration would apply to 245 million acres of land managed by the federal Bureau of Land Management.
This video summarizes the new rule, which Interior Secretary, Deb Haaland describes as providing, " ... balance to our public lands as we continue using the best-available science to restore habitats, guide strategic and responsible development, and sustain our public lands for generations to come."
